Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do the routes follow tracks?
The routes are either on bridleways or roads. In some parts
the ground is bumpy and challenging. The profile of each
route can be seen on the web site. The route in each case is
clearly marked and there is no need for maps. There will
also be plenty of marshals along the routes to encourage you
on.
2. Will there be refreshments available?
Yes, delicious free refreshments at stops along the way and
at the finish venue. There should be no need to bring any
extra food and drink with you, except perhaps a water bottle
if you are intending to do the longer routes.
3. Can I enter on the Day?
Yes, registration opens at 8.30am & closes at 10.00am.
On the day fees are as follows: -
Adults £15.00.
Children (16 & under) £7.50.
Family (2 Adults and up to 3 children) £30.00
4. How do I get to the event and where do I park?
There is parking at the venue and directions for Southwell
Rugby Club will be on the web site soon.
5. Are there toilet facilities, changing facilities and an outside
hose for bike cleaning, at Southwell Rugby Club?
Yes on all 3 counts.

6. Is there a maximum time allowed?
We aim to have a cut off at around 6 hours. The sweeper
cyclist will set off behind the last cyclist as far as
possible.
7. Is the event a race?
No. It is just what the title suggests - a challenge. If the
individual cyclist wishes to compete against one another or
go for a personal best, that is no problem. We will be
publishing finishing times on the web site after the event
for your own interest.
8. Do you accept credit card payment?
No, unfortunately we do not yet have this facility.
9. When is the last accepted postal entry?
Last postal entry must be received by Saturday, 24th May
2008. Entries can then be made at the registration desk from
8.30am until 10.00 am on the day of the event.
10. Are there any facilities for spectators?
There are various points along the routes where spectators
could catch up with their family or friends; however in many
cases, because it is an off road event, these are fairly
difficult to access. The venue has basic facilities such as
toilets, but the pretty town centre of Southwell is in
walking distance and there are cafes and pubs open for
refreshments. Also, Southwell Minster is well worth a visit.
11. What if my entry form does not arrive in the post?
Go to the information desk on the morning of the event and
we will deal with that problem.
12. Can I change my mind about which route I am going to
do on the day or even half way round?
Yes. The routes all start together and the signs will tell
you when you can veer off onto the next route. We are asking
you to indicate which route you are likely to do to start
with to help us organise the refreshments, but it is
flexible and if you are feeling particularly energetic on
the day and wish to be more ambitious or on the other hand
if the conditions are challenging then you can suit
yourself.
13. If my child cannot manage the route or has a
puncture, what facilities do you have for getting him
or her back to the start venue?
We have a number of rescue vehicles to facilitate this
eventuality. However, if your child is under 16 she will
have to be accompanied by an adult other than the rescuer.
We also recommend that you take puncture repair kits with
you although we will endeavour to have these available to
buy at the refreshment stops.
14. Who do you expect to enter Tonya's Challenge?
Off road cyclists who want to have a great day out, serious,
competitive riders who want to bomb round, young and old,
single riders and families.
15. If I change my mind after paying my fee or I don’t turn up on the day, can I have my money back?
No. Sorry. No refunds for cancellations.
